08:00 - Pick up from your Moshi hotel and drive 45 minutes to Materuni village on the lush green slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. The scenic drive passes through banana and coffee plantations with glimpses of Kilimanjaro on clear days. 09:00 - Arrive at Materuni village and meet your Chagga guide. Begin a 30-40 minute hike through coffee and banana plantations to the beautiful Materuni Waterfalls. The trail winds through lush vegetation with your guide explaining local plants, their medicinal uses, and Chagga culture. 09:45 - Arrive at the spectacular 80-meter Materuni Waterfall cascading into a crystal-clear pool. The waterfall is surrounded by tropical rainforest creating a serene atmosphere. Brave visitors can swim in the refreshing mountain water pool at the base (bring swimwear and towel).
